Committee revised plank
We support legislation to remove the Alamo from the management and oversight authority of the Texas General Land Office to prevent it from ever being abused for political gain again and that the Republican Party of Texas supports
1) re-implementation of the 2011 statutes to preserve, protect, and maintain the Alamo and the Alamo complex
2) the ultimate goal of getting the Daughters of the Republic of Texas back into the stewardship of the Alamo
3) legislatively creating a State Commission for the Alamo, whose membership should come from Texans such as the Daughters of the Republic, the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the Alamo Defenders Descendants Association, and a publicly elected official who will be accountable to the State of Texas.
Decision-making authorities shall affirm and emphasize the intrinsic significance of the 1836 battle in telling the story of the Alamo; and Texas’ authority regarding the Alamo shall not be infringed upon by any organization or authority, including but not limited to local governments, the federal government, the United Nations, or UNESCO
