The Republican Party of Texas supports an addition to state infrastructure policy to prioritize the conservation and restoration of natural watersheds as a primary means of water management. We call upon the Texas Legislature and the Texas Water Development Board to incentivize private-sector recycling of water and the implementation of soil health practices that increase the water-holding capacity of the land, reducing the need for taxpayer-funded mega-projects. We vehemently oppose any state or federal "land grab" under the guise of conservation, instead advocating for voluntary, market-based incentives that empower Texas ranchers and farmers to act as the primary stewards of our state’s land and water resources.
